Halogen light sources are the type of illuminant currently most often used for automotive headlamps. Inside the glass bulb of a halogen bulb there is a filament made of a tungsten thread and a gas mixture of halogen compounds. These halogen compounds, such as iodine or bromine compounds, ensure that the filament is regenerated by means of complicated transport processes.
